Strip down
The interior was removed, unsafe timber came out and the thin concrete floor was dug down to clay before drainage, damp proofing and insulation went in.
The cottage had been empty for many years. The renovation stripped it back to the bones, removed rotten timber, rebuilt floors and roof, added insulation, underfloor heating, new electrics and plumbing, then returned craft and warmth through reclaimed furniture, tweed, ceramics and original art.
